The Washington County ARES Organization (WASHARES) regularly participates in the ARRL Field Day excersize in Springtime. Operators take their ham radio eqipment out in remote locations and operate under extreme emergency simulations. It is a great test of what hams are capable of doing. And it is a fun contest.
